Reaction | Resilience comes to the fore once more

City came through our latest test to secure three good points against Poole Town on Saturday, courtesy of a 3-2 victory.

We had to recover from going a goal down early on against in-form opponents who went into the encounter just one place below us.

“I was really pleased with the performance,” beamed manager, Daf Williams. “We worked incredibly hard and played some good stuff against a strong side with plenty of attacking talent.

“It was particularly pleasing to see how we imposed ourselves on the game; falling behind didn’t knock us at all.

“I’ve been very vocal about the resilience we have here; this was another test for us and we were able to bounce back from the early set-back to put on a good show and take the three points.”

Thoughts have already turned to the next game, as we make an instant return to New Meadow Park action with the visit of Berkhamsted on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

“The homework started straight after Saturday’s game,” Williams added. “We’ve had eyes on them, so we know what they’re all about and what we have to do.

“Our preparation is so important and so too is the role of our supporters. If we are to be successful, it has to be an ‘all in’ mentality, with everyone connected to the club working together and the fans are a massive part of that.

“They gave us outstanding backing on Saturday and we need more of the same on Tuesday evening for what will be another tough test for us.”

Tuesday’s game sees us take on a Berkhamsted outfit who are fresh from a 1-0 away win at Tiverton Town at the weekend, their fifth win from 12 Premier South games.

Having returned to this level vis the play-offs at the end of last season, they currently sit eighth after what has been a solid start to the campaign.

Come and show your support as we look to increase our unbeaten home record.
