Today is the day as City head to Farnham Town in the Pitching In Southern League Premier South Play-Off Final with a place at Step 2 the prize for the winner.
We head into the game on the back of a hard-fought 3-2 extra-time victory over Poole Town in Wednesday’s semi-final, whilst our hosts made it through courtesy of a late penalty in a 2-1 triumph over Berkhamsted.
Just two points separated the teams at the end of the season. We went down to a 2-1 home defeat to them at the end of November having previously played out a 3-3 draw in the away game in September.
Now all of the ups and downs, highs and lows of the 2025/26 season come down to this one game.
The preparation is done; the travelling contingent are ready to give the players their full backing.
“We’re really looking forward to the occasion and hopefully we can create some more fantastic moments,” said Joe Hanks. “Farnham are a very good side with some great players who have been brilliant all season.
“It’s going to be a sell-out crowd and our supporters will pack the away end and create a great atmosphere.
“As a player there’s nothing better than playing in front of a big crowd and having great support behind you. The sacrifices we all make is worth it for playing in big games like this.
“Fingers crossed we can give the fans something to cheer about and celebrate with them afterwards.
“The semi-final against Poole was an incredible experience. It was two very good teams giving their all and thankfully we were able to get through.
“The atmosphere was incredible and it was a pleasure to play in. I’m just glad I was able to play a part in the victory and I’m now looking forward to doing it all again in what will be another massive game.
“I feel that it’s been another good season for us. We’ve put ourselves in a position to get promoted and hopefully we can go one better than last year’s disappointment.
“For me personally, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the season and just hope that I can get another opportunity to celebrate with the fans after Monday’s game.”
