MATCH REPORT- Gloucester City 3-1 Chertsey Town

Free scoring Gloucester City scored three and notched up another three points after defeating Chertsey Town after a two week break from action at the TigerTurf Stadium.

Less than ten minutes into the game, the visitors took the lead through Oliver Knight after his half volley went in under the right hand upright which Jared Thompson couldn't do anything to stop.

The Tigers were putting on the pressure after falling behind but couldn't bundle the ball home after robust defending by the Curfews defence stopped Jadyn Crosbie and Stanley Anaebonam from drawing the scores level.

Just before the half hour mark Crosbie was seemingly adjusted to have midjudged a run to get in behind their defence, who had his shot saved by Nicholas Jupp in the Chertsey goal.

Despite dominating the ball, with just minutes before the interval it was looking as though City would be behind but City's top scorer Joe Hanks had other ideas.

A corner routine straight off the training ground and one similar to City's home win over Merthyr in August levelled the scores.

Harry Emmett played a low corner in which Ben Richards Everton and Dan Ball dummied leaving the ball free for Hanksy who slotted home in to the bottom left corner just two minutes before the 45 were up.

With just seconds to go of the first half the turnaround was complete with another Harry Emmett set piece ending up in a Joe Hanks goal.

Emmett fizzed in a ball right on the money and Hanksy was there to nod in from close range with the last action of the first half, ensuring that the boss Mike Cook had wholly different team talk to the one he would have had five minutes prior.

Hanksy's incredible personal goalscoring season hit further heights with the double taking him to 18 goals in just 20 starts.

Harry Burns had to be subbed five minutes into the second half after a poor tackle by a Chertsey player, which saw the reintroduction of Harry Pinchard after a lengthy lay off with a broken leg.

Pinch was back to his playmaking best and looked like he had never been out at all after an impressive sub cameo.

Chertsey nearly drew level with just 20 minutes left to go, but Jared who had barely been tested during the game made a remarkable sharp save at his near post.

Just two minutes after the match was safe for City after they added a third and ensured that there would be no comeback from the away side.

A corner from substitute Dayle Grubb was met by Dan Ball but his header cannoned off the bar and straight into the path of Ben Richards Everton who headed home the rebound meaning that all three of City's goals were from set pieces with BRE adding another to his personal tally.

With the win safe new signing Matthew Richards got a run out with two minutes for his first minutes in a Tigers shirt.

City secured their second conecutive win in the league and have now scored 10 goals in their last two and a half matches showing that the Tigers attack may finally be flowing heading into the busy Christmas period.
