City v Boston Preview [A]
By Rowan Lee
Gloucester City will travel to the county of Lincolnshire today where they’ll face a struggling Boston United side at The Jakemans Stadium in the Vanarama National League North with Kick off scheduled for 3pm.
Form:
City head into the game following two back-to-back 1-1 draws against Leamington Spa, with the most recent point coming on New Year’s Day. A game which saw Matt McClure get on the scoresheet for City in what was an end-to-end game at Tiger Turf.
Boston on the other hand find themselves to be on a disappointing run of form so far with no win in their last four league games with United’s last victory coming against Leamington back in early December.
Nevertheless, despite there being a nine-point gap between the two sides Steven King’s men are more than aware by now that there are no so-called easy games in this unforgiving division. Therefore, a victory is all City will look for this afternoon if they are to continue their pursuit of the playoffs and push forward from their current position of 10th.
Players to watch:
Despite Boston’s current league position being 19th, they still have many threats within their team which City will have to manage well if they are to walk away with all three points.
City’s defence will have to keep United’s Scott Pollock quiet today with the 21-year-old Englishman already netting an impressive 13 goals so far this season. It’s safe to say The Pilgrims house a strong midfield with a variety of goal scorers available. Attacking midfielder Jordon Crawford will also be a threat for the hosts as he has scored six goals from open play this campaign.
