City Manager Paul Groves wishes to make the following statement after yesterday’s defeat at Chorley:
“First and foremost we apologise to the fans for the result and the level of performance. It was well below the acceptable standard, we’ve fallen short and we can only apologise and work hard during the week to improve.
In any match when you get off to a slow start it becomes an uphill battle. To concede as early as we did and go down to ten men made it very difficult however we need to show a lot more fight, desire and determination. The overriding factor was that we failed to do the basics.
Moving forward, our priority is to bring some experience into the dressing room so that we can give the fans the performances they deserve to see. Recruitment has proved to be difficult, but we don’t make excuses, we need to recruit players to enhance and improve the squad and we’ll work our hardest to do that as soon as possible.”
