Reaction | Singing off the same hymn sheet

City made it through to the second round of the Isuzu FA Trophy courtesy of a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Havant & Waterlooville at New Meadow Park on Saturday.

*I was pleased with the performance,” said manager, Daf Williams. “We controlled the game both with and without the ball, so that was good to see.

“We made a couple of changes going into the tie and it was further evidence of what a good squad we have here with everyone singing off the same hymn sheet.

“It’s a squad that is good enough to compete and win every game we go into. Everyone made a contribution on Saturday and it’s a reflection of the options that we have available.

“Being able to create a winning mentality is important and in doing so we want to be able to give the supporters some exciting and positive memories, which progress in the Cup competitions can bring.

“The FA Trophy gives us an opportunity to achieve something special and we look forward to the second round draw.”

Standing before us is a busy month of November, where we face no fewer than seven games, starting at Uxbridge on Saturday as the battle for League points resumes.

“It’s a heavy schedule with some tough games,” admitted Williams. “But we’ll use the week ahead to rest, recover and prepare for a big performance at Uxbridge.

“They have started the season at this level really well following promotion at the end of last term, so we know that we face a tough test, but we’ll go there with plenty of belief and determination.”
