Preview | O'Regan ready for battle

These are the type of occasions that Michael O'Regan came to Gloucester City AFC for.

The accomplished central defender is relishing the challenge that stands before him on Saturday as he looks to keep quiet a Poole Town attack that has scored eight goals in their last two outings.

It’s a second against third clash that is really capturing the imagination as two in-form teams lock horns.

City will be looking to extend our impressive home run which sees us as one of only five teams from the top seven tiers to have a 100% home record after five games.

“It’s going to be another tough game, as they all are at this level,” summer signing O’Regan told us. “We go into it on the back of six hard-earned points from our last two games, which was great, especially when you consider the players we lost on Monday.

“It’s important that we are able to back it up on Saturday. Poole Town have also started the season well and have been scoring plenty of goals recently, so it has all of the ingredients to be a great game of football.

“We’ve had a really positive start to the season, but we’re greedy and there have been points that we’ve dropped which we shouldn’t have.

“Personally I am happy with the way in which I have settled in here. I spent a long time at [previous club] Evesham United, so you always wonder how you are going to settle into a new environment, but we’ve got a great group here and they have made it easy for me.

“I knew that it would be a battle in the Premier South and so it has proved. If you’re not at it, you will get punished, it’s as simple as that.”

O’Regan was keen to praise the role that the City fans have in driving the club forward.

“I knew that the club was well supported when I joined, but it’s gone above what I expected, to be honest,” he admitted. “Non-League can be a slog for everyone with the travel, but to see so many fans follow us all over the place really is a great source of motivation for us as players.

“We’ll keep doing all we can to give our supporters something to cheer about and we want to see New Meadow Park packed out on Saturday to create a winning atmosphere.”

Let’s see you turn up in good numbers on Saturday in support of the team! With the game being fully segregated, fans are advised to follow the information here:

- Home fans shall use gate B to enter the ground, this is the entrance closest to the T-End.

- Away fans will use gate A, the turnstile closest to the car park.

- Both entrances will open at 1:30.

- The away fans will be able to use the Shed bar and food will also be available from Mikes bar too.

- We will also have plenty of options across the ground for home fans including Spago, open side pizza, Mikes bar and the 1883 bar
