Preview | Let’s get down to business

City take a break from the battle for League points at the weekend as we get back onto the Isuzu FA Trophy trail with a second round tie at Slough Town.

Our hosts sit one place off the bottom of The National League South table, with three wins to their name from 15 League games.

“We’ve prepared the same way as we do for every game,” said Michael O’Regan. “We’ve worked hard this week; it’s a chance for us to pit our wits against higher level opponents and we’re looking forward to the task ahead.

“We go into it on the back of victory in our last game against Havant & Waterlooville. It was a tough one, like they all are; we made it a bit more difficult than it needed to be, but we got the job done in the end.

“We just needed a reaction and during the first half especially we did that well. We were up against it a bit more after the break, but we were able to see out the three points.”

O’Regan was amongst the scorers in our 3-2 success.

“It’s about time I got on the scoresheet,” he added with a smile. “I managed to win the ball back, gave it to Elis and just kept running. When he returned it to me, my eyes lit up, I got my head down and just hit it.

“Thankfully it went in and it was nice to play my part in the victory. Hopefully a few more goals will follow for me now.”

Saturday’s tie will have to be settled on the day, with a penalty shoot-out taking place should the scores finish level after 90 minutes.
