Preview | Feel-good factor for Hanks

City get straight back into home action under the lights this evening as we face Berkhamsted (kick-off 7.45pm).

We go into the game on the back of a 3-2 victory over fellow high-flyers, Poole Town, at the weekend as we secured our sixth home success on the spin.

Saturday’s performance was packed full of resilience alongside some sparkling play as we came from behind to secure a deserved three points and in doing so strengthen our position amongst the Premier South front-runners.

Getting his name on the scoresheet once more was Joe Hanks.

“I was delighted to be able to add another goal to my tally,” he told us. “I’m really enjoying playing a more attacking role and being able to contribute in this way.

“Saturday was a really good performance from the team; we knew that it would be a tough test having seen the form that Poole were in, but we prepared well and thankfully we were able to produce the goods to get an important three points.

“The whole team were excellent, the fans turned up in good numbers and got behind us throughout and there really is a good feeling around the whole club at the moment.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out there this evening. Every game brings a different challenge and we’ve prepared well for the one that stands before us from Berkhamsted.

“This League is relentless and we know the standards that we have to reach in order to get the three points on offer tonight. Our visitors are on a good run at the moment and arrive here on the back of two wins in a row, so it’ll be another test for us.

“We’ll be doing all we can to keep the momentum going and deliver a performance which will bring another three points.”

Having made an immediate return back into this level via the play-offs at the end of last season, Berkhamsted have adapted well to the added demands that the Premier South brings and currently sit eighth with five wins from their opening 12 League games.

They followed up their 3-1 home triumph over Evesham United by going to Tiverton Town at the weekend and battling out a 1-0 away win.

We need your support again this evening, so please come along and make your voices heard. Tickets are available online, here…

There will be various food and drink options available, so let’s create another winning atmosphere.
