City have added power, energy and a natural goalscoring instinct to our attacking options with the signing of Kane Simpson.
The 29 year-old, who has secured Southern League promotion at the end of each of the last two seasons, arrives at The KMM Energy Stadium following his recent departure from Taunton Town.
“This is a great signing for the football club,” said manager, Daf Williams. “I’m really looking forward to working with Kane.
“First and foremost, he’s a hard-working performer who plays with the level of intensity that is exactly what’s required to play in our team.
“He’s got experience at the level and his goal contribution over the past 18 months speaks for itself. To be able to add this to our already impressive goal tally is a big positive for us.”
Simpson’s senior career began in his native Bristol at the age of just 15, where he played alongside his dad, and he soon progressed up through the levels such was the talent that he possessed.
A regular on the scoresheet for Frome Town when they secured promotion from the Southern League Division One South in 2023/24 and then Merthyr Town last term as they claimed the Southern League Premier South title, he is relishing the challenge that stands before him here at City.
“This is an exciting move for me,” he said. “To join a club of the stature of Gloucester City AFC is really appealing and I can’t wait to get started.
“The club’s ambitions match my own, as does the style of play, so it made sense to come here and help the club challenge at the top of the table amidst some real quality teams who are also vying for promotion.
“I’ll bring a big physical presence and a lot of energy to the front-line. I’ve got a burning desire to win and I’m also a bit of a leader, so hopefully I’ll also be a positive influence in the changing room as well as on the pitch.
“As I say, there’s a lot of quality in this League; it’s tough, but I am looking forward to the journey ahead.
“The main goal is promotion, by whatever means, and I want to be able to help the club achieve that whilst also enjoying my football.
“The last two seasons have ended with me securing two of my proudest achievements in football and it has whetted my appetite for more, so bring it on!”
We welcome Kane Simpson to The KMM Energy Stadium and hope that his time here is long and successful.
