Inside Man: Ben Nugent

Leading into the last 7 games, its staggering that we’re not clear of the relegation pack. Plagued with injuries, a superb week consisting of 7 out of 9 points was a massive achievement from the squad. A good win away against Bradford Park Avenue saw Tomlinson get another sausage roll with Matt McClure coming on to get the winner. Such a vital player that unfortunately we haven’t seen more of.

Only a few days later, and an eventful draw against Chester saw McClure, once again, get on the score sheet to head home in injury time ensuring we didn’t go away empty handed. A result that although at the time was positive, we as a team saw it as a game to go and win. Another huge positive was Jack James got his first minutes for the Tigers in over 7 months. It’s a real testament to the young lad, from the moment I stepped into the building I saw his drive and determination to return back to elite fitness so it’s no coincidence he slotted in nicely showing real energy. He was blowing out his you know what mind.

Then on to Saturday where the return of a familiar face added a bit of spice to this fixture. A rock-solid performance, especially first half, where we dominated in every part of the pitch. That man Tomlinson grabbed himself another goal, topping of a solid week for the young Bristol loanee.

A full week on the training pitch then led us into Telford. A game in which we created more than enough chances to win the game, unfortunately we were unable to come away with three points. Daniel Leadbitter played his first minutes for around 2 months which is a huge boost for the squad as his athleticism and experience will be massive approaching the business end of the season.

Guiseley make the trip to New Meadow Park this Saturday, and after another intense week of training, the boys are aware of how important Saturday’s game is. With the injured players returning and getting fitter and sharper by the day, we are confident as a group in our preparation leading into Saturday. The support that you fans have shown is appreciated by the whole squad and we’ll need more of the same as we look for a strong finish to the season.
