City v Coventry City XI Friendly – Match Preview

Gloucester City are ready to welcome a Coventry City XI in the first of two home pre-season friendlies in the build up to the start of the new season.

Following the dramatic last-minute equaliser at Bath City last week and a strong win midweek against Redditch, Paul Groves’ men come into this fixture with growing confidence amongst the squad following important minutes.

A familiar name could be in the Coventry squad in Jack Burroughs. Jack joined City on loan with Jordan Young in December 2020, making 6 appearances and scoring a goal in the FA Trophy clash against Wealdstone.

Team News

Jack James will be unavailable after picking up an injury in the friendly at Bath City last weekend. Jack received an MRI scan today and we await the results of this.

Tommy O’Sullivan picked up a slight knock at Bath but is expected to be back in training on Monday.

Bernard Mensah is out of his leg cast following his recent operation and will be back in light training from Monday.

Cameron McGilp continues his recovery from injury and will be part of the matchday squad. The club have also had some new trialists join this week and they will be in the squad.

Off the pitch, we are pleased to welcome Barry (known as ‘Big Baz’) to the club as new chef! Barry has over 25 years’ experience as a chef in the Army and has already become a popular member of the team. Welcome to the club!
