Player News | City sign defender Mitchell Roberts on loan

Gloucester City AFC are delighted to announce the signing of left-sided defender Mitchell Roberts on loan from Hereford FC.

Roberts, started his career at Birmingham City Academy, before going on loan to a plethora of clubs to gain first-team experience, of which include Harrogate Town, Carlisle United, Oldham Athletic and Solihull Moors.

The 25-year-old then went on to sign for Boston United in 2024 however he suffered several setbacks and throughout the season which limited his game time.

The left-sided defender signed for the Bulls in the summer but his minutes have been limited at Edgar Street, which leads to the loan move to New Meadow Park.

Roberts had this to say on the move: “As soon as I heard about the interest from Gloucester, it was a no-brainer for me. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the club — from the infrastructure and management to the players and supporters. The lads are in a strong position in the league, and stepping into an environment that’s hungry for success and demands high standards was really important to me. I’m excited to get started and hopefully contribute to a successful spell here.”

Daf Williams also spoke to us on the acquisition of the defender: “Mitch is a top pro and great character who comes highly recommended by a few people I’ve spoken to that have worked closely with him from his previous clubs. He’s left footed and can play both wide centre back and left back, and has a number of good qualities that fit in well with what we’re trying to do. He comes in at a time where he’s looking to get some more game time, and we’re a bit light in that department currently so it’s a great fit for all parties. I’d like to thank Hereford and in particular Paul Caddis for their support in getting this done.”

Welcome to City, Mitch!
