Sam Kane joins Gloucester City on loan

Gloucester City AFC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Sam Kane on a one-month loan from Derby County.

The 20-year-old joins the Tigers on a deal running until October 21st.

Kane began his footballing journey with Rangers before making the move to Queen’s Park in 2023.

During his time with Queen’s Park, the Scottish goalkeeper gained valuable senior experience with loan spells at East Kilbride and Stranraer.

His spell with Stranraer during the second half of the 2024/25 season saw Kane make eight league appearances in Scottish League Two.

Following his departure from Queen’s Park, Kane joined Derby County in October 2025, linking up with the Rams' Under-21 side. He made his Derby debut in Premier League 2 later that season and has continued to feature for the club's development side.

Kane also gained experience in English senior football during a loan spell with Worcester City in the 2025/26 season. He initially joined the Southern League Premier Division Central side in January 2026 before extending his stay until the end of the campaign. Now, Kane makes the move to Meadow Park, joining the Tigers until October 21st.
