Gloucester City will travel to North Yorkshire on Saturday where they’ll face York City in what will be another huge league game for the Tigers.
City head to York on the back of a crucial 1-0 home win against local rival’s Hereford FC on Easter Monday. Man of the Match Jordon Thompson scoring the winning goal for the Tigers in front of an impressive 2,826 supporters at TigerTurf Stadium.
York who are currently eighth in the league go into this game after a 3-0 defeat to Alfreton Town. Therefore, in terms of recent results, all the momentum should be with Lee Mansell’s men going into this game.
The last time these two sides met was back at the beginning of the season in what was an impressive 4-0 victory for the Tigers. Dan King, Fabien Robert, Kevin Dawson and Matt McClure all on the scoresheet for Gloucester.
Speaking ahead of the game Lee Mansell is full of praise and said:
“Credit to a lot of the new lads, we’ve lost a lot of experience due to injury this season so they’ve really fronted up. They’ve really taken on board all of the information. ‘Daf’ has worked tirelessly behind the scenes along with Ash and Aidey and you can see we are starting to really turn a corner; we just need that little bit more consistency within games. Looking ahead to York we have to get that point and start looking ahead to building for next season.”
A victory for Gloucester on Saturday will once again be crucial in achieving their overall target of remaining in the division. A win will also maintain the team’s positive moral heading into the last remaining games of this league campaign.
