The script couldn’t have been written any better for skipper, Keiran Thomas, last weekend.
Presented with a framed shirt ahead of the game in recognition of him making his 100th appearance for the club in the previous game, he not only went on to be part of a solid back-line that kept a clean sheet, but also popped up with what proved to be the winning goal in front of the T-End.
“It was a good day for me,” he said with a smile. “First and foremost I was buzzing that we were able to get the win and add another three points to our tally, but beyond that to also keep a clean sheet and for me to get the winner in front of the T-End was amazing.
“This is what makes all of the hard work to get back from injury worthwhile and now I’m looking forward to taking this on into Saturday’s game.”
This weekend sees us head to a Berkhamsted outfit who still have play-off aspirations despite a home loss at the hands of Hanwell Town on Tuesday.
Their recent run of form has put them in amongst a group of clubs just outside of the top five as they have adapted well to the demands of this level following promotion via the play-offs at the end of last term.
“It’s going to be another tough game, as they all are in this League,” added Thomas. “They made life difficult for us here earlier in the season and snatched a point in stoppage time from a 3-3 draw.
“We know that we’re going to have to go there and work hard to earn the right to play our usual game.
“We’ll need to be defensively solid once more in order to give ourselves a foundation and then hopefully our attacking quality can shine through.
“The fans are going to play an important role, not only on Saturday, but in the remaining games, and we need the level of support that made all the difference last weekend.”
If you are able to make the trip to Hertfordshire on Saturday, please do so and get behind Daf and the players.
