Preview: Southport (h)

Gloucester City face play off chasing Southport at New Meadow Park tomorrow. The Tigers will be looking to bounce back from their previous game, where they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Blyth Spartans away from home last Saturday.

City come into this game in 18th place in the National League North table and come up against a Southport side in 6th place after their 1-0 home victory against Bradford PA thanks to Connor Woods’ 95th minute winner. Southport also strengthened their squad in the week bringing in former Manchester City academy graduate Ryan Corrigan to their team, who played in the same Man City youth team as Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho.

Southport have scored eight goals in their last five matches and are unbeaten in their last five games away from home and have scored eight goals in their last five matches. City have only scored one goal in their last five matches and haven’t scored in their last two league games coming into this game against Merseyside opposition.

A win for City would take us up to 22 points and four points behind our next opposition Hereford, who we play on Tuesday night at Edgar Street, with a game in hand assuming results go our way.
