Preview | Ready to go again

City get back into home action at the KMM Energy Stadium on Saturday as we take on in-form Weymouth (kick-off 3pm).

We go into the game with a spring in our step following Wednesday evening’s 2-0 away win at Gosport Borough, where not only did we secure three valuable points against our play-off chasing hosts, but also kept a first clean sheet in ten games.

“It was a good win and a good performance on Wednesday,” said manager, Daf Williams. “The lads did well and we dedicate the victory to our fantastic travelling supporters who clock up the miles following us.

“We know that we’ve not been good enough on our travels, but this was a performance to match the result and we are really pleased.

“We were a lot better with the ball and had more accountability in defence, but it’s one game and one win and we have to be ready to go again on Saturday.

“It was a collective effort, but it counts for little if we don’t back it up in the games ahead, starting at the weekend.”

Saturday sees us lock horns with a Weymouth side who have won their last three games in a row, which has included home victories of Walton & Hersham and Poole Town.

It means that they will arrive here full of confidence and belief as we look to pick up from where we left off on Wednesday evening.

We will officially launch the Heart of the Game initiative at Saturday’s game, where supporters will be invited to take part in a free blood pressure test in a relaxed, non-clinical environment.

It is being operated by Freedom Leisure, in partnership with Blackbridge Charitable Community Benefit Society (CCBS), Gloucestershire FA and Gloucester City AFC, as a community-first health initiative using the power of football to help local people take control of their heart health.

Heart of the Game is designed to remove barriers to preventative healthcare by bringing simple accessible checks into trusted community spaces. There are no appointments and no pressure, just an opportunity to know your numbers while enjoying matchday.
