Preview | Phillips firing ahead of 'massive' game

City hit the road on Tuesday evening as we head to Premier South leaders, Walton & Hersham (kick-off 7.45pm).

We go into the game on the back of a welcome return to winning ways at the weekend as we beat Tiverton Town 3-1.

Amongst the scorers was Kieran Phillips, who is back firing on all cylinders again following a successful loan spell at Larkhall Athletic last month.

“I needed to get out on loan to build up my fitness levels and get regular games under my belt,” he admitted. “I was able to do that at Larkhall Athletic, for which I am really grateful, and I have returned here determined to play my part between now and the end of the season.

“It felt good to get on the scoresheet on Saturday. I started the game at right wing-back; I was pleased with the way in which I took to the position and then was pushed further up the pitch as the game went on.

“I was happy with my performance and happy to help the team. We needed that victory to get us going again and now we’re looking forward to heading to Walton & Hersham.

“It’s a massive game; they are top but have lost their last two games, so they’ll be looking to end that particular run, whilst we’ll be looking to ensure that they don’t extend their lead over us and kick-on from Saturday, so it’s three big points up for grabs.

“We’ll go there and give everything we’ve got, as we always do. Hopefully as many of our fans as possible will be able to make the trip to cheer us on.”
