Preview | On the FA Trophy trail this weekend

City turn our attention to the FA Trophy on Saturday as we play host to Stafford Rangers in the third round qualifying (kick-off 3pm).

We go into the game following a mixed week as we followed up our superb Emirates FA Cup victory at National League South outfit, AFC Totton, with a disappointing loss at Malvern Town.

Our opponents on Saturday are members of the Northern Premier League West Division, where they have won six of their seven games. They also enjoyed an Emirates FA Cup victory over Hereford last weekend, so they will arrive here with a spring in their step.

“Needless to say, it will be a tough test against a good side as we aim to bounce back from a disappointing result and performance midweek,” said manager, Daf Williams. “We return home off the back of two away games. AFC Totton away last weekend felt like a turning point for us as the lads put in a fantastic performance, without doubt our most complete performance of the season.

“I felt that the AFC Totton game would give us a platform to push on but our second half performance on Tuesday was way below par and we got exactly what we deserved on the night.

“There is much to address as a group going into Saturday’s game. We will continue to work hard to put that right and with your continued support we have the opportunity to do just that.”
