Preview | Dunbar eager to put smiles on faces

City return to home action on Saturday as we take on Hanwell Town looking to get our first victory on the board.

Doing all he can to help us secure those precious three points will be local lad, Ethan Dunbar.

When he became available during the closed season, there was plenty of interest in securing his services, both at home and abroad, but when the call came from City, there was only one place he was going to go.

“I was over in Portugal doing some summer fitness work when the call from Daf came,” he told us. “There were quite a few offers on the table, but as soon as I got that call, my mind was made up where I wanted to be.

“As a local lad whose family are all City fans, I have always wanted to play for the club, so to get the opportunity to come here means so much to me.

“I’ve lived in the area from a very early age and as well as my family, I have a lot of friends who also support the club, so to wear the shirt means everything to me.

“Whilst it’s fair to say that the season hasn’t started as well as we would have liked, there is enough quality here to get things moving in the right direction pretty quickly, hopefully starting on Saturday.

“I am doing all I can to play my part and help the club get to where it wants to be. I’m coming into my peak years now and it’s taken a lot of hard work and dedication to get to this point, so I want to grab this chance with both hands.

“The Gaffer had obviously done his homework on me, just as I did my homework on him and I heard plenty of positive things about the way he does things and I am enjoying working under him.

“I’m a winner and want to win things. I firmly believe that I can do that here at Gloucester City. Momentum is so big in football and with everyone working together and pulling in the same direction, we can get things moving.

“The fans here are so passionate about their club; I should know because I am one of them too and I will be doing everything in my power to help put smiles on faces.”

Saturday’s opponents, Hanwell Town, arrive having won one and drawn two of their opening three games of the season.
