City return to the battle for League points on Saturday as we play host to Basingstoke Town (kick-off 3pm).

We go into the game on the back of a commanding 4-0 victory in the Emirates FA Cup at Mangotsfield United on Tuesday evening.

“I was pleased with the performance on Tuesday, as I have been for the last few games,” admitted manager, Daf Williams. “It was particularly pleasing to see us convert some of the many chances that we have created in recently.

“There were plenty of highlights to take from the game, including young Phil Chovanec’s clean sheet on his debut in goal, first goals of the season for Tom Owen Evans and Harry Williams, having four different goalscorers and, of course, seeing the numbers that travelled to cheer us on.

“Now our attention turns to building upon this on Saturday. Basingstoke have had a good start to the season; they are a well-organised outfit who will provide us with a challenging afternoon.

“Despite results not going our way so far this season, the performance levels over the last few weeks have been very good and we will be looking for this to continue on Saturday.

“I’m really pleased with how the players have dealt with some adversity in terms of disappointing results. They’re a fantastic group of talented players and they are starting to produce

some of the football I know we’re capable of.”
