Phillips wins Player of the Month

Kieran Phillips has been named October's Vanarama National League North Player of the Month.

The forward scored six goals in just four games as City enjoyed a fine run of form in October, winning four matches and climbing up the league table.

A superb solo performance against Southport saw Phillips net two goals in a 24-minute cameo to seal City's comeback in a 3-2 win.

Phillips went on to bag another brace the following week in a 2-1 win over Alfreton, before finding the back of the net in a 5-1 win over Farsley and also grabbing the only goal in a 1-1 draw away at Chester.

In a month in which City claimed 13 points from six games, Phillips - who played in four of those matches - has been crowned the Vanarama National League North's best player.

After scooping the award, Phillips said: "I'm delighted to win October's Player of the Month, hopefully it can be the first of many.

"It's a proud moment for me personally, as the hard work and patience paid off last month.

"The lads were brilliant in helping me get this award and I'm looking forward to getting back on the pitch with them soon."
