Gloucester City cruised to a 3-0 win last night at the at TigerTurf Stadium against AFC Telford United, with impressive performances from the debutants, Ollie Hulbert scoring on his return alongside Owen Evans and Danny King getting on the scoresheet.
Matt Buse saw an opportunity on his debut to lob the goalkeeper but saw his effort dragged wide in just the fifth minute of action.
City took the lead ten minutes later through Owen Evans, who pounced onto a Danny King cross to fire home inside the six-yard box.
A minute later City were on the attack with King putting a teasing ball into the box for the second time, but it didn’t meet a City head and went out for a corner.
In the 25th minute City were caught out after Brendan Daniels took Harrison Minturn and Ben Morgan out of the game with a close controlled touch, but the debutant Minturn recovered well to block Daniels’ attempt at goal.
City doubled their lead nine minutes later with Ollie Hulbert scoring on his return to Gloucester City. He received the ball just inside the penalty area and curled his shot into the top left-hand corner past Dilling in the Telford goal.
City continued to dominant until the end of the first half. Another bursting run forward by Danny King found Owen Evans with a cross, but they couldn’t repeat their fortunes like the first goal and the City wing-back headed his effort onto the bar.
In the second half, City showed more signs of domination- keeping the ball well and looking to create chances. Minturn looked impressive on his City debut adding strength to the Gloucester City defence as they were being put under pressure by Telford’s frontline.
Substitute Tré Mitford looked to get on the score sheet straight away in the 86th minute with a powerful shot into the goalkeepers grasp from a difficult angle.
City rounded off their performance through Danny King who added a third to seal a 3-0-win for City. He received the ball out wide and cut inside on his left foot taking on two players before curling the ball into the bottom corner in the 89th minute.
