Club to partner with Gala Wilton FC

Gloucester City AFC are delighted to announce their partnership with step 7 club, Gala Wilton FC who play in the Gloucestershire County League. With the re-introduction of the clubs U18's set up the club are working hard to provide multiple outlets for them to gain men's team football, with the ultimate goal of seeing our young players be pushing into the first team.

Chairman, Colin Taylor had this to say:

My passion at the club is to see our youth development be able to produce players who can push through to the first team. We all get excited about new signings but there is something truly special about seeing young players we have poured years of hard work into coming through and representing us at the highest level. We will have some players who can adapt to the men's team quickly and others that need some time and investment so having a partnership like this will give us access to levels our youth can be tested at, gain confidence and also fail to learn. This relationship perfectly compliments what we already have at the club with our reserves and relationship with long term partners, UDA.

Chairman of Gala Wilton FC, Lee Sheridan had this to say:

I'm really proud to be part of the partnership between Gala Wilton FC and Gloucester City AFC. Last year we dual-registered a City youth player which gave the player exposure to senior football at a competitive standard. The player excelled and we as a club benefited from having a quality player available for our first team. I'm confident that this will be a blueprint for many years to come and I know Gala will provide a pathway to the best U18's that GCAFC have to offer.

The partnership extends into coaching also with GCAFC U18's coach, Josh Taylor also taking the reigns as first team manager for Gala Wilton FC and will be joined by GCAFC youth lead coach Brett Salvage. With the coaches in a dual role it will give them the perfect insight on those players we wish to accelerate into senior men's football.

Josh Taylor has this to say:

I'm really excited with the announcement of GCAFC and Gala Wilton FC working together. GCAFC as a club have produced lots of young talent over recent years so I'm pleased we can offer a pathway into senior football through Gala Wilton. This will be a great test for them both technically and physically. With playing in step 7 this will provide lots of exposure to the men's game and help young talented City players to progress to the next step.

Keep your eyes peeled for more partnerships that are benefiting the club at every level.
