City have strengthened their options ahead of the run-in to the end of the season with the permanent signing of dynamic midfielder, James Waite, from National League outfit, Eastleigh, in a deal that sees him at the club until the summer of 2027.
A product of the Cardiff City academy ranks, he had a number of loan spells during his formative years, turning out for the likes of Hereford, Weston super Mare and Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.
He then signed for Penybont, where his impressive displays in the JD Cymru Premier earned him a move into the EFL with Newport County.
The Wales U19 and U21 international then returned to Weston super Mare before making the switch to Eastleigh.
“Having worked with Waitey previously at Newport County, I know exactly what sort of player and person we’re signing and I’m absolutely delighted to get this done,” said manager, Daf Williams. “Not only because of what he will contribute in the remaining games of this season, but also to secure him for next season is a real positive for the football club.
“He’s a technical, creative midfielder, who can play a number of different roles in middle of the pitch; he plays with high energy and intensity and will fit into the system here well.
“James will go straight into the squad on the weekend and I’m looking forward to everyone seeing him in action.”
We welcome James to the KMM Energy Stadium.

This is a great bit of business for the club, especially getting a permanent deal over the line until 2027. Having a manager like Daf Williams who has already worked with him is a huge advantage, as it takes the guesswork out of how he’ll fit into the squad. Waite’s versatility in the middle and his high energy are exactly what you need during a tough end-of-season run-in. I saw a similar signing analysis on https://englandderbyshire.co.uk/ about how reunion signings often provide the quickest impact for teams chasing results. Really looking forward to seeing what he brings to the KMM Energy Stadium this weekend!
Really pleased to see us get Waite in on a permanent, and the 2027 deal shows proper planning for once. If he brings that energy and creativity Daf mentions, he could be the difference in tight games during the run-in. I just hope he’s given a clear role early rather than being shuffled around too much. Also, the club site on my phone kept throwing weird side ads the other night, one of them was crazytime1win.com and another was crazytimemostbet.com which was pretty distracting while I was trying to read the announcement. Welcome to him anyway, looking forward to seeing him at KMM this weekend.

City’s signing of James Waite looks like a smart move for midfield depth, especially given his energy and versatility. After reading football updates like this, I play Slope Rider which is a downhill game that tests reflexes while riding through fast moving slopes and obstacles
