City have strengthened their options ahead of the run-in to the end of the season with the permanent signing of dynamic midfielder, James Waite, from National League outfit, Eastleigh, in a deal that sees him at the club until the summer of 2027.
A product of the Cardiff City academy ranks, he had a number of loan spells during his formative years, turning out for the likes of Hereford, Weston super Mare and Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.
He then signed for Penybont, where his impressive displays in the JD Cymru Premier earned him a move into the EFL with Newport County.
The Wales U19 and U21 international then returned to Weston super Mare before making the switch to Eastleigh.
“Having worked with Waitey previously at Newport County, I know exactly what sort of player and person we’re signing and I’m absolutely delighted to get this done,” said manager, Daf Williams. “Not only because of what he will contribute in the remaining games of this season, but also to secure him for next season is a real positive for the football club.
“He’s a technical, creative midfielder, who can play a number of different roles in middle of the pitch; he plays with high energy and intensity and will fit into the system here well.
“James will go straight into the squad on the weekend and I’m looking forward to everyone seeing him in action.”
We welcome James to the KMM Energy Stadium.

The manager already knowing exactly what he is getting from their time together at Newport County takes a lot of the risk out of this signing. A technical creative midfielder who can cover multiple roles in the middle of the park is exactly the kind of versatile addition that helps during a run-in. Came across a transfer roundup over at https://direwolfseo.co.uk/ covering similar lower league signings with strong Welsh football connections which felt very relevant here. Straight into the squad this weekend is a confident call.
