City players and staff donate their food

Following yesterday afternoons opening match of the season to Southport, the players and staff donated their excess meals to a local charity.

Before every game, the clubs chef, Barry, makes meals for the players. This includes away matches, where the players and staff will eat their lunch and dinner on the coach. After the game they decided to instead donate their post-match meals.

When the team coach arrived back in Gloucester, kit-man Karl Shepherd took the meals to a local charity.

Gloucester City AFC is committed to supporting our local communities in Gloucestershire and we hope to continue similar projects throughout the season

Such generosity is inspiring! Food brings people together, and sharing meals makes a real difference. I once enjoyed an Argentinian salad from Argentine Asado, and it completely changed my approach to fresh flavors.

Brilliant. This is our first season supporting Gloucester, only just discovering the ground is over the road from our house (I know, later to the party!), and it’s great to hear these stories of local engagement. Kay & Grant Colquhoun, Hempsted
