City take a break from the battle for League points on Saturday as we begin our Emirates FA Cup campaign with a home first round qualifying tie against Mangotsfield United of the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Whilst it’s fair to say that the season hasn’t started exactly as we would have hoped with one win from our opening six Premier South games, there have been signs of what we are capable of and there is plenty to look forward to as we move into the autumn months, including the start of what we hope will be a run in the FA Cup.

“The two league results over the Bank Holiday weekend were extremely disappointing, there is no hiding from that,” admitted Chairman, Colin Taylor. “I know how much those results hurt; believe me there is no worse feeling waking up day after a game when we lose.

“We know the expectations that come with wearing the Gloucester City shirt. We know what this club means to our supporters, and we know that when the team doesn’t perform to the standards we expect, it is incredibly frustrating for everyone who gives their time, money and energy to supporting this football club.

“As Chairman, I take that personally. I am as disappointed as anyone when we don’t get the results we want, and I completely understand the questions and frustrations that have followed those games.

“But football is not always about what happens when things are going well. It is about how you respond when things don’t go your way.

“Performances have been good but things just haven’t gone our way. We have played in the right way but just haven’t picked up the points we deserved.

“Times like this aren't about pointing fingers or looking for someone to blame. It' s about taking responsibility, collectively. We all have a responsibility to make Gloucester City the best it can possibly be.”

Taylor believes that there is no better place to start the rebuilding of our confidence than an FA Cup tie in front of the City fans at the KMM Energy Stadium.

“The FA Cup is a competition that can create special moments,” he added. “We must show the fight, character, togetherness and desire that I know exists within this group.

“We need to give everything for that shirt, for this football club and, importantly, for the supporters who stand behind us.

“I would personally like to thank every single one of our supporters who continues to stick with this team through thick and thin. Your loyalty, passion and commitment to Gloucester City never goes unnoticed, and it means an enormous amount to everyone at the football club.

“I know the difference you can make when you get behind this team. Let’s make the KMM Energy Stadium a place where our players know they have an army behind them.

“Let’s get behind Daf, his staff and the players, and let’s show everyone what Gloucester City is all about.

“I genuinely believe the good times are just around the corner. If we can all stay together, support one another and keep believing, I am confident that we can come through the difficult moments and enjoy some very special times together.”
