Gloucester City is pleased to announce that defender Ruairidh Winters has signed on for the 2014/2015 season, with 20-year-old Matt Williams joining to help bolster the defence.\r\n\r\nWinters, who signed for the Tigers in February 2014, made eight appearances in defence last season where he impressed City boss Tim Harris.\r\n\r\nThe 24-year-old began his career at Oldham Athletic before trying his luck in the United States and Canada with AFC Cleveland and FC London.\r\n\r\nWilliams, who started his career at Cheltenham Town before spells at Evesham United and Bishops Cleeve, joins to strengthen the Tigers’ back-line.\r\n\r\n“I’m delighted to have signed for next season after really enjoying my time at the back end of last season,” explained Winters.\r\n\r\n“It was good of Tim to keep me involved at the club last season as my work commitments didn’t allow me to play on Tuesdays but that has been resolved now and I can’t wait to get started again.”\r\n\r\n“It was a quite a big decision to sign as I had the option to return back home to Preston but as I enjoyed my time last season and with Marc Richards coming on board too I felt staying was the best option for both my football at Gloucester and educational development at Hartpury.”\r\n\r\nTigers manager Harris is pleased that Winters will be available for more games, and that his presence will be vitally important.\r\n\r\n“I am pleased we have managed to sort out the availability issue Rory had with his work commitments last season as they were far from ideal,” said Harris.\r\n\r\n“However he has the physical presence and strength that is vital in this league and hopefully playing regularly we will obtain more consistency from a very talented young man.”
