Gloucester City are delighted to announce the signing of 24 year-old striker Obi Anoruo from Colwyn Bay.\r\n\r\nNigerian-born Obi started off his career as a youngster at Liverpool, before coming through the ranks at Wrexham where he enjoyed a prolific spell in the youth team, scoring 29 goals in 22 games.\r\n\r\nAnoruo was a product of the Liverpool Academy after being raised in Liverpool since the age of six, and many felt he was unlucky not to be kept on after breaking his ankle as a schoolboy, but Brian Little, the then League Two side’s manager wasted no time and stepped in to offer him a two-year scholarship.\r\n\r\nHe scored 17 goals during a loan spell at Vauxhall Motors and joined Colwyn Bay in June 2014 after being on loan at Stalybridge Celtic.\r\n\r\nAnoruo was one of the top ten goalscorers in the Vanarama Conference North last season, scoring 19 goals for Colwyn Bay, including 2 against the Tigers. He was named as Colwyn Bay Directors’ Player of the Season for the 2014/15 campaign.\r\n\r\nSpeaking on the signing, Tim Harris said “I think Obi is a great acquisition for us, he is hungry to succeed and I am sure he will excite the fans.\r\n\r\n”Obi has real ambition to succeed, and we’re hoping his time at the club will be mutually beneficial to both parties, and he really believes joining Gloucester City is a step in the right direction to get himself back into the Football League.”
