Gloucester City manager Tim Harris has described his ‘immense relief’ after the club’s application for a new stadium at Meadow Park was approved last night.\r\n\r\nHarris was manager when the floods of 2007 occurred, and returned to City as manager in February; but has been involved throughout the entire process.\r\n\r\nSpeaking the morning after, the Tigers manager was proud and relieved that the long arduous process has finally come to a conclusion.\r\n\r\n“I remember that Sunday in 2007 like it was yesterday, receiving the phone call that Meadow Park was about to be flooded,” recalled Harris.\r\n\r\n“Meadow Park was as good as it has looked since we moved there in 1986, the supporters had done a phenomenal job painting the stands and to see it all washed away was absolutely heartbreaking for everyone involved with Gloucester City.”\r\n\r\n“This morning I can only think of the people who love this club, the volunteers involved, every chairman and every supporter who has helped this football club; it’s a momentous and emotional occasion.\r\n\r\n“I couldn’t understand the sheer amount of hurdles and obstacles we’ve had to deal with going through this application.\r\n\r\n“It seemed ridiculous that so many people who are so, so proud to represent this City have had to go through so much to finally make this happen; but we’re here now and it is a relief.”\r\n\r\nWith Gloucester City finally on the road back home, the City boss has said that now is the perfect opportunity for a business or an individual to step forward to take the club into a new era.\r\n\r\n“We now have the opportunity to establish this football club, frankly these last few years we have been punching vastly above our weight; but we have the chance to make Gloucester City bigger than it’s ever been.\r\n\r\n“I would love nothing more for a business or an individual to come in and take this club to where it belongs.”\r\n\r\n“Just look at the wonderful work people such the ladies, Futsal and Youth Development are doing, allowing Under 18’s free into our fixtures is opening up a new generation of support.\r\n\r\n“Gloucester can sustain a very successful football team; I have no doubts about that.”
