We are delighted to announce that Boxing icon Sugar Ray Leonard will be the guest of honour at a Gala Lunch in the fabulous Centaur suite at Cheltenham Racecourse.\r\n\r\nSugar Ray Leonard was a world champion in five different weight categories and is arguably one of the most famous sporting names in the world.\r\n\r\nThroughout his glittering career he beat legendary opponents such as Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran and now works as an analyst for major television companies in the United States and for his own personal foundation.\r\n\r\nHe was the first boxer to earn over $100m in purses, he won an Olympic Gold Medal in 1976, was named ‘Boxer of the Decade’ for the 1980’s by Ring Magazine and was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996.\r\n\r\nThe 58-year-old is thrilled to be coming to Gloucestershire on Friday 20th March 2015 for an afternoon lunch, brought to you by The Events Room, that can’t be missed.\r\n\r\n“I am delighted and very much looking forward to attending the world famous Cheltenham Racecourse, meeting many of my fans  in the UK whilst supporting Gloucester City Football Club’s return home after over seven years of exile, and of course their Gloucestershire charity partner Pied Piper.”\r\n\r\nOn the event Leonard will be joined by former WBC super middleweight champion Richie Woodhall and comedian John Stiles.\r\n\r\nNick Broady, the chairman of the Pied Piper Appeal, believes the event has the potential to raise significant funds for the charity, which helps sick children all across Gloucestershire.\r\n\r\n“We’re thrilled to have been added as an event beneficiary and we are very glad to be a part of it.\r\n\r\n“I don’t know how much money we’ll make, but any money raised for the sick children in the county is amazing.\r\n\r\n“Sugar Ray Leonard is a huge name, an iconic name in the boxing world, and for him to come to Gloucestershire, with Pied Piper Appeal being associated, is fantastic for us.”\r\n\r\nMike Dunstan OBE, chairman of Gloucester City, believes that securing Leonard is a significant coup for the Gloucestershire, and the club, as they look ahead to return to the city.\r\n\r\n“I am delighted that we have secured such a legend to be guest of honour at this event, a terrific coup that shows the ambition of this club.\r\n\r\n“We are playing at the highest level we have ever played at – just two promotions away from the Football League and we are looking forward to an exciting future.\r\n\r\n“This is going to be a unique event, with a great meal set in a fabulous and historic location.\r\n\r\n“It will give people the chance to enjoy a luxury four course lunch with a genuine sporting icon in Sugar Ray Leonard, and another boxing great in Richie Woodhall.\r\n\r\n“An opportunity like this comes along very very rarely – and we are expecting high demand for places when tickets go online shortly.\r\n\r\n“One has to ask how long it could be before such an opportunity presents itself in the county again; it’s going to be a remarkable and unforgettable occasion.”\r\n\r\nIt promises to be a knockout Gala Lunch, in the stunning surroundings of one of the world’s most iconic racecourses, with one of sport’s most iconic names.\r\n\r\nTickets will go on sale at www.vipsportsevents.co.uk on Friday 16th January in four separate ticket categories from £100 upwards.\r\n\r\nDon’t miss out!
