Gloucester City assistant manager Matt Rose has called for patience with the Tigers young squad following their third successive loss in a row on Tuesday night to Kidderminster Harriers.\r\n\r\nSpeaking at training on Thursday night, Rose said “Obviously we have built a very young squad but also a very good squad here, but we have to have patience with this team.\r\n\r\n”They are a young bunch and we’ve just done a session of oldies vs youngies tonight, and I’ve got lads that are 26 in the oldies team! I don’t think I’ve ever had that at any squad I’ve been with!”\r\n\r\nTigers boss Tim Harris was very impressed with the well-drilled Kidderminster after the game on Tuesday, with Rose sharing his views.\r\n\r\n”I thought Kidderminster were a well organised outfit, obviously they’re full time and they were very sharp both on the ball and off the ball.\r\n\r\n”It’s one of those that you’ve got to take on the chin and move on from it and we’re looking forward to Saturday in the FA Trophy.”\r\n\r\nCity welcome National League North table-toppers AFC Fylde in the Buildbase FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round at Whaddon Road, with rumours suggesting that they may field a weakened side in the competition, but Rose says that won’t affect the Tigers’ preparation.\r\n\r\n”The Trophy is a good competition to be involved in for a club like Gloucester City” said Rose.  “We look forward to any tie albeit even against a tough team like AFC Fylde.\r\n\r\n”We expect them to bring a strong side regardless of what people might say and we’ve got to prepare for that and pay them every respect as I suspect they will with us so we look forward to it.”\r\n\r\nFollowing Tuesday night’s defeat it looked as if the Tigers would have selection problems with a few players picking up knocks, but Rose was on hand to address these issues.\r\n\r\n”Even if you look at the squad we had on Tuesday, we’re not a football club that has got the finances or the infrastructure in place to have masses of strength in depth.\r\n\r\n”We’ve patched up a few and Hopps [Luke Hopper] is back and even though he came off on Tuesday he’s just got sore legs so he’s fine.\r\n\r\n”Hanksy [Joe Hanks] just has a little niggle but Calvin [Dinsley] should be fit, so we look forward to choosing from a nearly full squad on Saturday and hopefully progressing to the First Round.
