Gloucester City were held to a score draw in their penultimate pre-season friendly away at Herefordshire outfit Pegasus Juniors.\r\n\r\nAdam Connolly notched his first Tigers goal before goalkeeper Harvey Rivers felled Julio Da Mata in the penalty area for Paul Allam to emphatically smash home the spot-kick.\r\n\r\nAt the other end, ex-City goalkeeper Nathan Phillips produced half a dozen excellent saves to deny his former teammates to keep the score level.\r\n\r\nThe Tigers complete overran the West Midlands League side for much of the first half, Nat Jarvis and Charlie Griffin both hitting the woodwork, Pegasus’ Ben Price also struck a sweet effort that bounced off the crossbar.\r\n\r\nTim Harris’ team began at a frenetic pace, Scott Wilson denied twice in the opening three minutes by Phillips.\r\n\r\nThe young goalkeeper blocked Tom Webb’s volley, tipped over Griffin’s header, thwarted Wilson’s quick swivelled shot and then made an excellent double save denying Webb and Adam Mann’s thunderous effort from outside the box; all in the opening 10 minutes.\r\n\r\nAfter weathering the storm Price hit a sweet volley that struck the crossbar before heading wide a difficult chance four minutes later.\r\n\r\nThe woodwork then came to the Redmen’s aid, blocking Jarvis’ fantastic effort from 20 yards followed by Griffin knocking a header onto the top of the bar.\r\n\r\nCity kept on having the better of the proceedings as Mann’s effort was pushed away by Phillips followed by a superb one-on-one stop blocking Wilson’s dink.\r\n\r\nThe deadlock was broken by substitute Connolly who drilled an excellent shot low and hard into the bottom corner to put the Tigers ahead.\r\n\r\nThe lead didn’t last long as Rivers slid into Da Mata from behind to give away a penalty that Allam powered home into the top corner.\r\n\r\nCity had chances to win the game in the final minutes with a goal-line scramble finishing with Elliott Chamberlain shooting wide.\r\n\r\nMatt Groves had the final decent opportunity at Old School Lane, a difficult attempt through a group of players that was blocked, as the Tigers had to settle for a draw.\r\n\r\nPegasus Juniors: N.
