Charlie Griffin’s last gasp header in the fifth minute of injury time sealed Gloucester City a point at Oxford City.\r\n\r\nThe substitute had cancelled out Bifemi Alofabi’s 90th minute goal that looked like the hosts were going to take all three points in a crazy finish.\r\n\r\nTom Winters’ fantastic first-half strike had placed Oxford ahead but Griffin bundled home Scott Wilson’s cross to level the scores before the incredible stoppage time action.\r\n\r\nOn a soggy afternoon at the aptly named Marsh Lane Adam Mann had the first notable opportunity getting in behind the defence but shooting wide.\r\n\r\nAdi Yussef struck back for Oxford City with a smart shot from the right, capably saved by Mike Green.\r\n\r\nThe wet surface caused havoc for the hosts as Matt Groves snuck in behind and flashed a teasing ball into the area that Adam Connolly almost latched onto.\r\n\r\nHowever, it was the hosts who dealt the first blow as former Tigers defender Paul Stonehouse slammed a 25 yard effort off the woodwork as the rebound fell to Winters who curled the ball into the bottom corner.\r\n\r\nThe winger threatened once again shortly after pouncing on a poor defensive clearance but dragged his shot wide.\r\n\r\nTim Harris’ side pushed forward looking for an equaliser, but Mark Scott stood firm excellently saving Billy Jones’ powerful low free-kick.\r\n\r\nMarc Richards was thwarted by Scott from 10 yards before an excellent turn and shot by Javi Rodriguez forced a quality stop by Green.\r\n\r\nOxford’s Spanish contingent combined just before the break as Felipe Barcelos played in Rodriguez who couldn’t steer his effort on target.\r\n\r\nJosh Green’s effort through a bevy of Tigers bodies spurred Gloucester into life as Groves shot weakly from the left at the start of a lacklustre second half.\r\n\r\nSam Avery headed a looping Jones free-kick straight at Scott followed by Mann half-volleying on the stretch as City revved up their need for an equaliser.\r\n\r\nDefender Matt Williams saved City with a quarter of an hour remaining with an excellent block deflecting Lewis Wilson goalbound effort wide for a corner.\r\n\r\nThe Tigers persistence paid off handsomely with 10 minutes to go as two of Harris’ substitutes combined, Griffin and Scott Wilson, with the former tucking home the cross.\r\n\r\nThe wind was in City’s sails and Groves almost sealed it with a spectacular half-volley deflecting just wide of the post, followed by Mark Preece coming inches from tucking Wilson’s cross home.\r\n\r\nBut, against the run of play Darren Pond found space and played in Alofabi who took it around Green to tuck home what Oxford thought was the winner.\r\n\r\nBut, the scoring wasn’t finished in an unbelievable end to the game as Griffin headed home a free-kick to steal a point for the Tigers.\r\n\r\nOxford City: M.
