A penalty in the dying moments of the game from National League North top scorer Brendan Daniels was enough for high-flying Harrogate Town to claim all 3 points away at Gloucester City.\r\n\r\nThe Tigers were retaining possession well in the opening stages and some lovely play culminated in Joe Hanks being gifted with an early chance as he blazed over a left footed shot from 20 yards.\r\n\r\nPaul Clayton had the first chance for the visitors as he met a whipped cross from Brendan Daniels but just couldn’t convert the header.\r\n\r\nTown captain Danny Ellis was shown a yellow card after he hauled down Jonté Smith who was in 1-on-1. The resulting free kick from Smith was straight at Peter Crook.\r\n\r\nCity goalkeeper Jasbir Singh was then in action of his own as Dominic Knowles was allowed time and space to shoot in the box and he forced Singh into an acrobatic save.\r\n\r\nSomehow the ball stayed out of the Tigers goal when Singh and Matt Williams combined to make a series of fantastic blocks.\r\n\r\nJonté Smith had the ball in the net as he fired a beautiful left footed shot across goal and into the corner of the net but it was chalked off for offside.\r\n\r\nPeter Crook pulled off a wonderful save to deny Smith after the Bermuda international leapt high above his man to fire a header goalbound, but Crook was there to tip it over.\r\n\r\nDominic Knowles will have nightmares for weeks as he found himself completely unmarked from 12 yards but blazed his shot well over in a real let off for City.\r\n\r\nIn a rare chance in the second half, the Tigers escaped again. This time it was Singh and Green combining to both clear off the goal line from Knowles\r\n\r\nOnce again Singh was the hero after he sprawled across to his right to claw away a free kick from Daniels that was destined for the top corner.\r\n\r\nSam Avery, returning to the squad after suspension, was booked for a late challenge and from the resulting free kick, Brendan Daniels tried an audacious effort from the touchline that just went wide.\r\n\r\nThe sucker punch game one minute from time as substitute Jack Emmett was fouled in the area and referee Adam Ricketts duly pointed to the spot.\r\n\r\nNational League North joint top scorer Brendan Daniels stepped up to take the spot kick and dispatched it past Singh, even though he went the right way.\r\n\r\nDespite throwing everything at Harrogate in the dying moments of the game the Tigers couldn’t breakthrough and they head to Leiston next week in Emirates FA Cup action on the back of two straight league defeats.\r\n\r\nGloucester City: Singh, Green, Bowen, Williams (Capt), Avery, Miller, Hanks, Webb, Cooke (Parker 72’), Smith (Symons 46’), Hall (Liddiard 77’)\r\n\r\nSubs: Hamilton, Richards\r\n\r\nHarrogate Town: Crook, Turner, McWilliams, Nyoni, Shiels, Ellis (capt), Colbeck (Emmett 71’), Swain, Clayton, Knowles (Thewlis 85’), Daniels\r\n\r\nSubs: Fallowfield, Bloomer, McGurk\r\n\r\nA really good half of football from the Tigers who are unlucky not to be ahead. Good chances for both sides but City just shading it\r\n\r\nReferee: Adam Ricketts\r\n\r\nAttendance: 329\r\n\r\nStar man: Jasbir Singh
