A smash and grab job from Brackley Town saw the Saints claim all the points as Gloucester City’s winless league run continued.\r\n\r\nThe first sight of goal came when Lewis Hall fired a rasping cross over from the left hand side to Obi Anoruo who side footed into the arms of Sam Hornby.\r\n\r\nTwo really good chances followed soon after for the Tigers. Joe Hanks struck a free kick that was parried out to Calvin Dinsley who shot just wide.\r\n\r\nHornby was in action once more after good link up play between Anoruo and Harry Williams that saw the Cheltenham Town loanee dance past three men before chipping into the Brackley stopper’s hands.\r\n\r\nThe first half-chance for the hosts came as the first half wound down. A teasing free kick ran all the way through and out for a goal kick.\r\n\r\nWith City very much in the ascendancy they nearly took the lead through an audacious attempt by Hanks from 40 yards, but his drilled effort was easily collected.\r\n\r\nAnoruo should have scored moments after the restart as Lewis Hall played a brilliant cross in from the left but he tapped wide from about six yards.\r\n\r\nMinutes later, the Tigers escaped as Sam Smith missed a glorious free header from close range, heading straight at Singh.\r\n\r\nPatient build up play from Brackley saw Joe Clarke unleash a strike from 25 yards that flew inches over the crossbar.\r\n\r\nCity had the ball in the net but it was controversially ruled out for offside. Hall headed against the crossbar and as the ball bounced back for Harry Williams to tap in from close range, the linesman’s flag went up.\r\n\r\nSome great pressure from City nearly saw them snatch one as the game went on. Williams hit the post from inside the six yard box, before Calvin Dinsley’s follow up strike back across goal found the clutches of Hornby.\r\n\r\nThen came the killer blow for City, as a mistake from Billy Jones let three Brackley players in against Singh and Avery.\r\n\r\nIn the end, it only took two of them to find the net as David Moyo and Steve Diggin colluded to give Diggin the easiest finish he will ever have.\r\n\r\nSam Avery was then sent off late on for a high foot on Moyo, much to the disbelief of all the City players and most of the fans in the stand.\r\n\r\nThe defeat leaves City in the relegation zone for the first time this season as their winless and luckless run continues into another match.\r\n\r\nBrackley Town: Hornby, Hawtin, Morley, Clarke (capt), Austin, Mills, Odihambo (Batchelor 85’), Walker, Smith (Moyo 68’), Diggin (Ashby 90’), Winters\r\n\r\nSubs: Whittall, Noon\r\n\r\nGloucester City: Singh, Hamilton (Knowles 65’), Jones, Richards, Avery, Hanks (Smith 85’), Dinsley, Webb (capt), Anoruo, H.
