\r\n\r\n\r\nDate: Saturday 12 October, 2013\r\nCompetition: FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round\r\nVenue: Lodge Road\r\nKick-off: 3pm\r\n\r\nOpponents: Yate Town are a side very well known to Gloucester City in recent years, with two current members of the City Squad – Scott Wilson and Matt Groves – playing at Lodge Road last season and City striker Darren Edwards playing there earlier in his career.\r\n\r\nThe game will be somewhat of a home game for most of the City squad who are based in Bristol, as well as boss David Mehew, who lives in the village of Frampton Cotterell.\r\n\r\n”A lot of the lads will have family and friends coming along, and I believe we will have about 200-plus fans coming down from Gloucester,” said Mehew.\r\n\r\n”With Bristol Rovers playing away, there might also be a few fans who want to watch some good cup action and we might even see a crowd of 600-700 at Lodge Road, which would be great for Yate.”\r\n\r\nFormed in 1906 as Yate Rovers, they were founding members of the Gloucestershire County League in 196, moving to the Hellenic League in 1983, becoming champions in consecutive seasons in 1988 and 1989.\r\n\r\nThey were promoted to the Southern League in 2000, and again in 2003 where they have remained since.\r\n\r\nLast season the Bluebells enjoyed their greatest FA Cup run with a trip to the First Round, playing Cheltenham Town; after defeating Newport County at Rodney Parade.\r\n\r\nForm Guide: The Gloucestershire side currently sit 12th in the Calor Gas Southern League Division One South and West, with games in hand due to their cup run.\r\n\r\nIn the FA Cup, the Bluebells have defeated Cowes Sports, Chippenham Town and Bideford to reach this point.\r\n\r\nRecent league form – WLLLW\r\n\r\nHistory: After numerous meetings in cup competitions, the clubs first met in the league in 2004 where they spent five seasons in the same division until the Tigers promotion in 2009.\r\n\r\nThe most famous recent meeting came in 2007 when the Tigers defeated Yate 5-1 at Lodge Road, a game in which striker Jack Pitcher scored all five goals and won the FA Cup Player of the Round award.\r\n\r\nYate Town wins: 5, Draws: 2, Gloucester City wins: 9\r\n\r\nTeam news: Last week’s missing men, Lewis Hogg, Matt Groves and Darren Edwards are all back to full fitness – the only injury doubt remains full back Mike Green.\r\n\r\nYou’ll be able to catch all of the action from Lodge Road on Twitter (@GCAFCofficial) and Facebook (GCAFCofficial), see you there!
