Gloucester City Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of former Newport County defender Kieran Parselle.
A product of the Newport academy, Parselle, 20, becomes Tim Harris’ second signing of the summer.
After signing his first professional contract, Parselle made his senior debut for The Exiles at the age of 18 against Wolves in the League Cup First Round of August 2015.
Despite Wolves coming out 2-1 winners, Parselle was named man of the match for his assured and mature performance.
Shortly after making his League debut against Stevanage, Parselle was named as one of the top 11 under 21 footballers to look out for by FourFourTwo magazine.
He spent last season on loan at Salisbury and played 90 minutes against the Tigers in our FA Cup Second Qualifying Round clash, putting in a standout performance.
Upon learning of his release from Newport County, Gloucester City manager Tim Harris was quick to secure his services for the 2017/18 National League South season.
“I have been a long admire of Kieran since being given a full time contract at Newport County 2 years ago” Harris said. “He has immense potential and will fit in well with our desire to bring in young hungry players.
“I have to thank Kevin Nicholls ( Head of Recruitment at Elite Management Agency), Micheal Flynn (Newport Manager) and Tom Owen-Evans who appeared on loan for us last season.
“Kieran had several other clubs chasing his signature, but more importantly wanted to join our club which means everything to me as the manager.
“He will bring a balance, strength, quality and a good character to Gloucester City AFC. We look forward to having him on board.”
