On loan Gloucester City midfielder Tom Owen-Evans says that the team will be fully focused on the Emirates FA Cup tie with Hemel Hempstead Town this Sunday.\r\n\r\nA win will see the Tigers progress to the Fourth Qualifying Round of the competition, just one round away from the First Round Proper where teams from Leagues One and Two enter the draw.\r\n\r\nHowever, the Newport County loanee says that the Tigers will take each game as it comes.\r\n\r\n”The management team have done their homework and they know what Hemel Hempstead are about and we’ll go into the game looking to neutralise their game plan.\r\n\r\n”If we win then we’re just one win away from the First Round Proper but right now we’re focusing on Sunday and hopefully we can get through that and see where we can go from there.”\r\n\r\nOwen-Evans made his first appearance for the Tigers on Saturday away at Harrogate Town, where the Tigers were defeated 3-1 on an artificial surface, which was a first for the midfielder.\r\n\r\n”In fairness I thought the game at Harrogate would be a lot different from what I’ve experienced before, but it was quite similar in some ways, namely because Gloucester like to get the ball down and play.\r\n\r\n”Although in other ways it was different because I’ve not really ever played a competitive game on an artificial pitch before, so that was an experience.”\r\n\r\nMany players come on loan to National League North clubs from the Football League and struggle with the physicality, but Owen-Evans says it didn’t seem all that different to him.\r\n\r\n”It was definitely a physical game, make no bones about it, but if I’m honest I wouldn’t say it was any more physical from what I’ve experienced in the Football League.\r\n\r\n”Obviously League Two is a physical league and Gloucester are a physical side but we also like to get the ball down and play, which suits my style a lot so I’d say I definitely enjoyed my first game for sure.”\r\n\r\nThe Tigers host Hemel Hempstead Town in the Emirates FA Cup Third Qualifying Round on Sunday 2 October.
