Gloucester City Football Club can announce the departure of Obi Anoruo and would like to thank him for all his efforts as he joins Stockport County.\r\n\r\nIt was mutually decided to cancel Obi’s contract as despite being a striker that has scored consistently at this level, it is fair to say he has failed to settle in the area since his move South last summer.\r\n\r\nManager Tim Harris said: “Of course I am disappointed this has not worked out as expected but sometimes these things happen.\r\n\r\n“I am pleased for Obi and he has been given a great opportunity with Stockport County. He is a proven goalscorer and a move closer to his family home will suit him.\r\n\r\n“I have no doubt if Obi grabs his chance and works hard he can progress his career. He’s a good lad and on behalf of all at the club like to wish him every success.”\r\n\r\nChairman Mike Dunstan added: “I would like to thank Obi for all his efforts over his time with the club and it is a shame it did not work out for him here, but he leaves with all our best wishes on his future endeavours.”
