GLOUCESTER CITY AFC PRESS RELEASE

From: Gloucester City Football Club

Date: 8 June 2007

TITLE: CITY SIGN NEW FOOTBALL SECRETARY

Gloucester City have appointed Shaun Wetson to replace Jason Mills as the clubs football Secretary. Shaun says “I was a season ticket holder at City in the ‘80s, but attended less-regularly during the period when I was playing local football myself. But in recent years, following my injury-enforced retirement from playing, I have been enjoying watching Tim Harris develop a good team at Meadow Park, and believe the club is poised for success. I am therefore excited by the prospect of coming on board as Football Secretary”.

A keen sportsman in general, Shaun keeps himself active during the summer months as a very active local cricket player. Being a non-league fan (Shaun also supports Arsenal, but believes that the top flight has become far too expensive in recent times)

Shaun has no illusions about the challenges ahead; “I have not performed a role such as this in the past, but go into it with my eyes open that it will be a massive but enjoyable challenge – I have spoken to Jason at length and feel that I can make a good contribution. I am self-employed, performing accounting and stock-taking services for the licensed trade, and I can be flexible in my working hours, which will help me perform the duties of Football Secretary. I am looking forward to the challenge as I believe there are exciting times ahead.”

Club spokesman Mike Dunstan comments; “when the post became vacant we knew we had a major job on our hands to replace Jason, but we were lucky to have a number of impressive applicants. We are delighted to appoint Shaun to the post with effect from 1 July.”

Jason Mills has secured the full-time position of Secretary to the British Gas Business Southern League, and will therefore have to leave his position with the club. Mike Dunstan continues; “It is a huge loss to Gloucester City, but that sadness is counterbalanced by the honour of knowing that Jason has landed a key role in football, and therefore fulfilled a long-held ambition to work in the game full-time. Jason’s success is reward for his professional and dedicated service at City over a very long period, first as Assistant Secretary then in the lead role.
