Hemel Hempstead vs Gloucester City AFC

Saturday 24th March 2018

National League South

Kick Off: 3PM

Vauxhall Ground

Inform City go in search of a fourth consecutive league victory on Saturday as they travel to promotion chasing Hemel Hempstead.

The Tigers have been on fire recently, last week’s demolition of Hungerford was the clubs biggest win of the campaign so far.

Marc Richards side will be looking to continue their excellent form as they head into a busy run-in.

City top the form table for the entire division, picking up 4 wins from the last 6. League leaders Havant & Waterlooville are the only side to have beaten City since early January.

But it’s the away form that has been most impressive since the turn of the year. Six wins in the last eight on the road has helped lift the Tigers into mid-table, just seven points outside the playoff places.

Standing in the way of another three points are a Hemel Hempstead side in desperate need of a win to keep their promotion hopes alive.

The two sides last met back in August at the Jubilee Stadium, a late goal from Joe Hanks was enough to seal all three points in what was Gloucester’s first league win of the season.

A look at the Opposition

A baron run this calendar year has seen the Hertfordshire side slip out of the playoff positions. With just one win in their last six, Saturday’s hosts sit just a point outside of the top 7, although they do have a game in hand.

Hempstead threw away a 2-1 lead in the final nine minutes at Dartford last weekend to suffer a devastating 3-2 defeat. Former Millwall striker Alfie Pavey scoring the winner in the dying moments at Princes Park.

The Tudors are excellent going forward, they are one of the top scorers in the division and have only failed to score in three of their home games this season.

The biggest danger comes in the form of Jordan Parkes, formerly of Watford. The 28-year-old had found the net 12 times in the league this season. Whilst young Spencer McCall carries a box to box threat from midfield.
