Gloucester City vs East Thurrock Preview
Saturday 21st April 2018
National League South
Kick Off: 15:00
Gloucester City host East Thurrock on Saturday in the final home game of the season at the Jubilee Stadium.
Marc Richards side have suffered a dip in form in the past few weeks, just one win in six has ended any chances of a top-half finish.
The Tigers went down to a late flurry of goals from Sam Merson on Tuesday night in the 4-1 defeat to St Albans. Meanwhile, East Thurrock were narrowly beaten by league leaders Dartford.
Gloucester were well beaten by the Rocks in the previous meeting, three second-half goals were enough to claim all three points at Rookery Hill back in November.
The visitors have spent the majority of the campaign in mid-table and have the chance to move up to 11th if they beat City.
Saturday is the first of four games that East Thurrock will play over the next seven days. With two midweek games, followed by the final weekend, it will no doubt be a physically testing run-in for John Coventry’s squad.
They are in good form away from home, having won their last three games, scoring eight in the process.
In fact, they have been decent all season on the road with just five defeats in eighteen games.
The Rocks have been full of goals this season, scoring 73 goals. They have the league’s top scorer, Sam Higgins, the 28-year-old has found the net 26 times in his 37 appearances.
Strike partner Lewis Smith and midfielder Montel Agyemang possess goal threats, both have eight in the league so far, this season.
