Gloucester City AFC is very happy to announce the appointment of Marc Richards to the position of First Team Manager.
A former Gloucester City player, Marc was First Team Assistant Manager under former manager Tim Harris who left the Club in late November and has now stepped forward to take on the challenge of ensuring that Gloucester City remain competitive in the Vanarama National League South.
After a period of uncertainty, we believe that Marc will bring the stability which is required and he will continue to develop the players within the squad implementing his own style of play.
As Assistant Director of Elite Sport at Hartpury College, he also brings with him a range of professional experience of developing young players all the way through to international level within a football programme which has established itself as one of the best in the UK.
Marc had this to say on his appointment “It’s obviously been an extremely difficult few weeks for everyone involved with GCAFC with the recent departures and I can’t thank Tim enough for what he has done for me since my involvement with the club back in 2007. When Tim decided to leave I needed time to reflect on what was best moving forward. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to manage Gloucester City AFC. The current squad of players have not shown their full potential yet this season so I’m really looking forward to seeing what they are capable of achieving not only this season but in the future. “
Director Rod Jenner explained, “We are really happy to be able to say that we appointed the person we wanted. Marc’s knowledge of the playing squad we believe, will be vital in turning our fortunes around on the pitch. Will has done a fantastic job as interim manager, stepping in during a time of great pressure at the Club and we can now all focus on getting behind Marc, Will and the team for the rest of the season.”
Gloucester City AFC would also like to take the opportunity to thank Will Morford for his work as interim First Team Manager under very difficult circumstances and congratulate him on his appointment to the position of First Team Assistant Manager/Player.
Marc’s first game in charge will be away to Truro City on Saturday 23rd December at 15:00.
