Gloucester City have captured the signature of midfielder Lewis Hogg in the first of their new summer signings.\r\n\r\nThe 29-year-old has joined Gloucester on a one-year deal which will see him reunited with several former teammates.\r\n\r\nCity boss Dave Mehew said he was delighted to capture a player with such experience and skill.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n”Lewis is fantastic signing for us,” he said. “He is an experienced midfielder in non-league and also has league pedigree from his Rovers days.\r\n\r\n”He wanted a new challenge and we can offer him that. We heard he was turning down a new deal at Bath and we’d have been daft not to take a chance on him. He was instrumental in Bath’s promotion push and hopefully we will get a little extra out of him with him being fresh into the squad.\r\n\r\n”I helped bring him to Weston when I was there and have known him a long time but there were also a couple of ex Bath players who were instrumental in bringing him here.\r\n\r\n”Lewis can play anywhere across midfield which gives us great versatility, if you look at the spine of our team now, with Mike Green back in goal, our strong defence and the front pair who scored more than 35 goals between them last season we are looking good. That said I am looking to make at least one more signing in the near future.”\r\n\r\nLike several other Tigers players Lewis started his career at Bristol Rovers, where he enjoyed a spell as club captain before moving to Barnet. From Barnet he moved to Weston-super-Mare, where Tigers boss Dave Mehew was the then assistant manager, before joining the Romans in 2006.\r\n\r\nAt Bath Lewis was part of the Conference South winning squad in 2009/10 alongside Gloucester defender Matt Coupe and last season’s top scorer Darren Edwards.\r\n\r\nA versatile midfielder Lewis scored 39 goals in 137 appearances for Bath.
