HARRIS STAYS WITH TIGERS
Gloucester City Football Club are delighted to announce after recent speculation that Tim Harris is remaining with the club. Club Chairman Dave Phillips said "its been a busy weekend of meetings discussing various issues with Tim, but I am happy to report that he remains committed to the future of the club. We are now looking at the whole structure of the club in order to take some of the pressure off Tim and allow him to combine football with his business interests. Those changes will take time to work through, and its vital that we get them right in order to build on our forward momentum both on and off the pitch. "
Dave Phillips continued "crucial to that future is a new ground for the club in the City, and whilst I appreciate that fans are desperate for news I ask them to be patient for a little longer. Things are moving forward and we are hopeful that a positive announcement will be forthcoming before the start of the new season".
City sign off with a win... but Jack suffers injury
City rounded off the season with an excellent 4-1 win at next years hosts Cirencester Town. Jack Pitcher, Will Morford (2), and Jody Bevan struck for The Tigers.
Unfortunately Jack Pitcher suffered a nasty injury to his ankle shortly after scoring, and had to go to hospital to have it checked out. The doctors have confirmed no break, but there is some ligament damage, though it will be a few days before it can be assessed fully. All at City wish Jack well and hope that he bounces back ready for the new season.
Trio sign on for another year
Gloucester City Football Club is delighted to announce that three more players have committed themselves to the club for the 2008-2009 season.
Wide man Lee Smith came through the City Youth system, and has played over 250 games for the club, scoring 36 goals in two spells.
Midfielder Tom Webb is another 24 year-old, and also came through the all-important Youth Team. He is a one-club player, and has notched up in excess of 300 appearances for The Tigers, scoring 17 goals in the process.
Completing a trio of 24 year-olds is Ashley Thomas, who joined City this year from Shortwood United, and has been an instant success at this level despite having to step up two leagues. Ashley has been a rock at the centre of defence.
City manager Tim Harris said; “coming on top of the signings of Jack Pitcher, Neil Mustoe and Kevin Sawyer, this is a huge boost for the club. These six players have all played a massive part in the success we have enjoyed this season, and I think this shows the intent we have as a club to build on that success for next season. Ashley has made the transition to football at this level very well, whilst Tom and Lee have, despite their young age, a wealth of experience, having both got their first team chances at just 17 years of age.”
Harris continued “we are continuing to talk to players about next season, but I am delighted to have these six secured at this early stage”.
Neil Mustoe - Supporters Trust Player of the Year
Captain Neil Mustoe won the player of the year award for 2007-2008 to cap off a fabulous year. Neil secured 56% of the supporters vote, and won by a considerable margin from the other players.

Gloucester Community Foundations Dr. Chris Wakeman(GCF Trustee) and Simon Preston(GCF Chairman) make the presentation to City Chairman Dave Phillips. For details of the grant, see below.
Gloucestershire Community Foundation help City
Gloucestershire Community Foundation has been able to help Gloucester City AFC towards recovering from the set-back the Club suffered in last July's floods, with a timely boost to its running costs with a grant of over £5000.
Since the floods, the 125 year old Club have been playing their home games in Nailsworth at the home of Forest Green Rovers, but recently signed a two-year agreement to ground-share at Cirencester Town's Corinium Stadium from next season, whilst simultaneously working hard for a move back to within the City Boundary.
In addition, the Club has received a grant of £1500 from the Severn Trent Flood Fund also administered by the Gloucestershire Community Foundation. This grant will help to replace kit lost during the floods.
Sue Wright, Grants Development Manager for the Foundation said that it is hoped these two grants will enable the Club to move on from its problems and regain their position as an excellent provider of sporting opportunities, as well as providing the public with hours of entertainment.
On behalf of the Club and its Supporters, Chairman Dave Phillips said that a lot of hard work and effort is on-going within the Club, to take the opportunity that the devastating flood disaster has unfortunately provided, to eventually be able to turn it into a success story of the future. He said ' Our efforts now, will bear fruit one day, and all those hardy souls presently involved, will know that future generations will have a top class Club that the City and its football lovers will be very proud of. The help being afforded us now, from the likes of the Gloucestershire Community Foundation and Severn Trent, as well as of great practical help, is a great boost to morale in a most difficult situation for us.'

CITY SIGN PALMER
Gloucester City manager Tim Harris has moved into the transfer market to take Hereford United striker, Marcus Palmer on a months loan. Striker Palmer is 20 years old, and singed for the League Two high-flyers as an 18-year-old in September 2006 from Cheltenham Town
The Gloucester-born youngster has recently been awarded a new deal at Hereford, and Tigers Manager Tim Harris is delighted to get his man – “he is lightening-fast, so will give us more options over the coming month as we look to push back into the play-off positions. He has been on the fringes of the first team this year, being named as a substitute on several occasions, and getting onto the field of play on a couple of occasions.
The signing is especially welcome for tomorrow’s game at Rugby, as Will Morford, Alex Allard and Jody Bevan will not be available. Marc Richards will have to start on the bench, so will not be available for the whole match. Dan Wixey of the Youth Team will also feature in the squad, whilst Matt Sysum will start his first game for the Tigers having been on the bench for some time.
