Gloucester City Football Club is pleased to confirm that striker Harry White has turned down an offer to sign with a National League North Club in order to stay with the Tigers.\r\n\r\nWhite, 20, is under contract with the Tigers and the club received a five-figure bid last Friday afternoon.\r\n\r\nHe turned down the chance to switch clubs in order to continue his development at Gloucester City, where he scored 9 goals in 17 appearances in the 2014/15 season after joining at the end of October 2014.\r\n\r\nGiving his thoughts on the news, manager Tim Harris said: “Harry White has huge potential and is very happy here at Gloucester City Football Club.\r\n\r\n“The sideways move did not appeal to him and the offer to join another part time club was not something at this stage Harry thought would help his career prospects.\r\n\r\n“Over the last few years there have been many players that have progressed to the top flight from our level and below and if Harry keeps continuing to learn his trade he will I am sure have the opportunity to fulfil his ambition and have a successful full time career in the game.”\r\n\r\nChairman Mr Mike Dunstan said “It’s very refreshing to see this at a time when many footballers seem to be moving sideways or even downwards chasing more money.\r\n\r\n“I congratulate Harry on a very mature decision – whilst the money offered was quite substantial for both parties we are all delighted he wants to stay has at Gloucester City and develop his game.\r\n\r\n“I am sure our fans will be very happy with his decision as he has become very popular with everybody at the club.”\r\n\r\nThe Tigers kick-off their Vanarama National League North at home to division newcomers FC United of Manchester, this Saturday 8th August.
