We can now confirm that Gloucester City Football Club have accepted an offer from Barnsley for striker Harry White, who has now joined the League One side on a permanent deal.\r\n\r\nWhite, 20, signed for the Tigers following his impressive performance against ourselves for a Bristol Rovers XI in the Gloucestershire County Cup back in October 2014. Since joining Harry has scored 9 times in 17 league appearances for the club.\r\n\r\nSpeaking on the deal, City manager Tim Harris said: “I am delighted for Harry, he has an excellent appetite for the game and has a big opportunity to progress his career.\r\n\r\n“This is an excellent example to all youngsters that hard work and dedication can pay off. We are all aware of the money flying around this level but I can provide lads that get set- backs after being released from pro clubs an opportunity.\r\n\r\n“Clubs like Gloucester City who do not have the finance to compete however we can provide a pathway at this level for them to bounce back.\r\n\r\n“Many times I say to young lads you will not get rich playing for our club though we can offer excellent training facilities at Hartpury College, my coaching staff are first class and most importantly a platform to perform on.”\r\n\r\nGloucester City Chairman Mike Dunstan OBE said: “I am delighted for Harry and wish him well with his quest to fulfil his dreams of a professional career. I am also grateful to Barnsley for the way they have handled this transfer.\r\n\r\n“Finally I would like to reiterate what Tim has said; we have a fantastic coaching set-up at City and I hope this inspires players current and future to see what can be achieved if you work hard and put in the performances on the excellent platform of the National League North.”\r\n\r\nEveryone at Gloucester City Football Club all wish Harry fulfils his potential and makes his debut in the Football League, and we wish him all the best in, what we’re sure will be, a glittering career.
