Gloucester City manager Tim Harris says that he will exercise caution over a knock that Ethan Moore sustained against Slimbridge on Tuesday night.

The Tigers leading goalscorer in pre-season so far with three goals to his name, Moore was subbed off early in the second half after picking up a knock to his ankle.

City face Derby County on Saturday afternoon in pre-season, with the Rams expected to bring a strong side to the Jubilee Stadium, and Harris said he will be cautious.

“Thankfully it isn’t too serious but with injuries like that you’ve got to be very careful because if you push it too much too soon you can aggravate it.

“We’ve got to be careful especially with Ethan’s injury last season being so well documented and we all know how itching he is to prove himself next season.”

Moore missed the whole of the 2016/17 campaign with a season-ending ACL injury picked up in the final training session before the opening fixture away at Salford City.

Harris also gave an update on Tom Webb and Darren Mullings who both missed the 4-2 win at Slimbridge in mid-week.

“Webby is another one with an ankle injury and like Ethan it isn’t too serious but Saturday will come just a little too soon for him. Darren Mullings will be back in the squad, though.

“It’s sure to be a great game and I’m looking forward to seeing Luke Thomas back again – unfortunately he’ll be wearing the wrong colours but he is a special talent and exciting to watch no matter who he’s playing for.”

Kick-off against Derby County is 15:00. Admission prices are £10 Adults, £5 Concessions and £1 Under 16s.
